Recovering from 10 years of methamphetamine use, a 25-year-old Medford woman is striving to reunite a family scattered by drug addiction. Because her mother uses meth, the woman is parenting her 16-year-old brother, along with her own 4-year-old son. She also is trying to gain custody of her 15-year-old sister, a ward of the state living in a Portland facility for teens with behavioral issues. "They're my life; I've always taken care of them," she said. The woman has been involved in Jackson County's Community Family Court for more than a year and, although she has fulfilled every requirement, hasn't graduated because she likes the program's security. A manager for local Subway restaurants, she employs other recovering addicts. Paying hundreds of dollars each month in court fees, the woman qualifies for rental subsidies on the one-bedroom apartment she shares with her brother and son. Advertisement Both boys need clothes. The older one wears pants size 34-34, XXL shirts and 101„2 shoes. He also likes hats and wears size 75„8. The younger one wears boys size 5 slim pants, 5-6 shirts and kids 101„2-11 shoes. He likes Spider-Man stuff and Play-Doh. Community Family Court coordinator Lisa McCreadie said she wishes the woman would receive a gift certificate for a manicure or other beauty treatment. "She is always taking care of others and never herself," McCreadie said. The woman also would like a boom box for her sister.
