The In-N-Out chain has formally announced a Wednesday opening for its first Oregon store in Medford along Riverside Avenue adjacent to the Rogue Valley Mall. Store No. 304 will officially start serving its iconic hamburgers as early as 9 a.m., following an 8:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of a plaque dedicating the store to In-N-Out founder Harry Snyder. Snyder opened his first In-N-Out restaurant in 1948 in Baldwin Park, Calif., and the opening of the Medford restaurant now puts the staple of the Southern California burger world in six states. The dedication comes at what would have been the 102nd birthday of Snyder, who died in 1976. On hand for the dedication and opening will be Lynsi Snyder, the current company president and granddaughter of Henry Snyder, according to a release from In-N-Out. City officials are bracing for massive traffic snarls and waits of up to four hours in the drive-thru and walk-in portions of the restaurant. However, burger-o-philes looking to get an early jump securing one of the first Oregon In-N-Out burgers could end up sorely disappointed. Company officials said there are no facilities for customers arriving early and the parking lot will be secured until the store opens. However, In-N-Out spokeswoman Julie Nathanson said employees likely will start serving soon after the ribbon-cutting ceremony and not wait until the regular 10:30 a.m. start of business just for opening day. The restaurant has long been rumored for a Wednesday opening, but Nathanson said In-N-Out waited until Monday to make its announcement to make sure all the details were worked out before confirming the date. In-N-Out also announced that it will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant will bring in a crack team to handle what is expected to be a busy and chaotic day at the restaurant, and they will train new workers.
