In prior FBI statements he pledged allegiance to the ISIS chief and expressed solidarity with other terrorists. Conclusion: The shooter was a radical Islamist extremist inspired by ISIS. Our government's response included a moment of silence followed by a failed attempt to pass laws against guns. The killer told a 911 dispatcher “I did the shootings.” The killer did not give credit to a gun. The gun is innocent. The dead killer is the best witness. He had the front row seat. Lets take his words as to why he pulled the trigger. Our government should declare war on ISIS. Let the Defense Department fight terrorism. Let the Defense Department interrogate suspected terrorists! ISIS is at war with us. We need to be a war with ISIS. It is a strong possibility that had the Defense Department interrogated this Islamic soldier the killing would not have taken place. Instead of declaring war on ISIS, our government headed by Obama declares war on a non-human object called a gun. ISIS and Nazis both hate gays and Jews. The greatest generation defeated the Nazis. The Obama generation aims at the gun. Bill Hartley Medford Thanks to Walker, Carpenter funds The St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank the Carpenter Foundation and the Oregon Community Foundation’s Reed and Carolee Walker Fund for their recent generous grants to help those in need in Jackson County. The Carpenter gift of $15,000 will be used to assist clients in a financial crisis who are facing utility shutoffs. The Walker gift of $75,000 will be split to help clients facing rental eviction or utility shutoff notices and to fund a new program to move homeless clients into housing by paying their rental deposits and last month’s rent. All of these funds will go directly to the needy since St. Vincent’s pays no salaries. We are staffed entirely by volunteers. Rich Hansen Medford GOP and Trump Memo to Kathleen Parker, George Will, and Micheal Gerson: Trump is doing nothing more than saying out loud what your party has been muttering under its breath for years if not decades. Remember Reagan opening his campaign in a Mississippi city where three civil rights workers were brutally murdered? He said, "I believe in State's Rights." He then went on as president to complain about "welfare queens" and "strapping bucks." The GOP since then has been no better. Has the party ever criticized its racist, xenophobic mouthpieces like Limbaugh and his like? Never. The GOP has a lot more work to do than just dumping Trump.
