Gorin and Matchett fuel SOU CALDWELL, Idaho Junior outside hitter Shelley Gorin registered 22 kills and freshman middle Kristina Matchett had 12 kills and seven blocks as Southern Oregon University picked up a big Cascade Conference victory on the road Saturday against Albertson College. The Raiders needed just three games to walk off with the 15-12, 15-11, 15-11 win. "Theyre considered a contender in our conference, and so to beat them in their gym is very significant," said SOU coach Paul Elliott, whose team is now 2-0 in conference play and 6-3 over. "We were sluggish to start with but then we played very well," Elliott said. The Raiders trailed 8-1 in Game 1 before staging a big comeback. Volleyball SOUTHERN OREGON 1, SOUTHERN INDIANA 0 At Ashland, Southern Oregons Tiffany Mason scored on a rebound in leading the Raiders to a 1-0 womens soccer victory over Southern Indiana Saturday in non-conference play. Masons shot was one of only three shots on goal mustered by the Raiders, but it proved to be enough as the ball slipped past Southern Indiana goalkeeper Heather Hessman at the 78th minute. SOU goalie Emily Schifferling faced 17 shots on goal and turned them all away in posting the shutout and sending Southern Indiana to its first loss in four contests.
