Accused sex abuser posts bail, leaves jail TALENT - A former youth shelter supervisor accused of sexually abusing teen clients has been released from jail after posting $30,000 - in cash. Wayne Randall Gatrel, 43, of Medford, had been lodged at the Jackson County Jail on $300,000 bail since his arrest in July. Release requires a fee of 10 percent of the total. Gatrel has been indicted on 14 charges, including a dozen sex crimes, in connection with alleged abuse at the Community Works Youth Diagnostic Shelter. Gatrel's criminal trial was postponed last week after teen accusers offered conflicting testimony about facts in the case to Jackson County District Attorney Mark Huddleston. Huddleston, the state's lead prosecutor, was forced to remove himself from the case because he likely will be called as a witness for the defense. The matter has been referred to the Josephine County district attorney for prosecution. Indictments against Gatrel allege that he allowed four teens, ages 15 and 16, to have sex with each other while another person watched. Other charges allege that Gatrel sexually touched teen girls, that he harassed another youth and that he engaged in racketeering through his position at the shelter. A former co-worker, Desiree Joy Seiver, 22, of Central Point, last week saw several serious charges dismissed in exchange for testimony against Gatrel. She pleaded guilty to three felony charges of third-degree rape, a felony charge of racketeering and four misdemeanors. She remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $300,000 bail. A pre-trial conference for Gatrel is set for Sept. 24, with a new trial to be scheduled within 60 days.
