Bob Marsalli requested and accepted a reassignment as an operations manager in the DHS Medford office starting today. Meanwhile, Ida Saito, the manager for DHS programs in Jackson and Josephine counties will supervise all four counties until a replacement is found. Saito said Marsalli wanted more direct experience with DHS programs. "He came in without a lot of experience," she said. "I think he felt like he needed more of a grounding." Advertisement Marsalli has been the Klamath-Lake county manager since September 2001, just before a massive reorganization of the state agency. Saito would not comment on whether problems developed during Marsalli’s tenure in Klamath and Lake counties. In a statement, Marsalli said wanted a "fresh vantage point." "I’ve decided to step back and really learn more about DHS programs and services from the operational level," he told staff. Before the DHS reorganization, Marsalli was district manager for the agency’s former Adult and Family Services Division. Saito, who has been the Jackson-Josephine manager since 2001, said she expected the four-county post to be filled within 60 to 90 days.
