Email Story to a Friend June 3, 2006 Local businesspeople take new jobs Two employees at Rogue Disposal & Recycling have assumed new general manager roles. Wendel Smith has been named general manager for all collection of waste and recycling, and all related transfer station functions, while Lee Fortier will be general manager of Dry Creek Landfill and all associated functions. Smith and Fortier will be responsible for finances, operations and community relations in their areas. Smith has been with Rogue Disposal for 25 years in a variety of assignments, including senior management posts as landfill manager and collections operations manager. He is a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in physical education. Fortier has been with Rogue Disposal for six years as an engineer and landfill manager. He has specialized in the field of solid waste engineering for more than 35 years. Previously, he was president of EMCON, a national environmental engineering consulting firm. Fortier is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in civil engineering. Advertisement KOBI-TV has hired Norm Blandel as an account executive. After serving in the Marine Corps, he was a police officer in Los Angeles and a sergeant for the Laguna Beach Police Department. He is a PGA Master Professional, having worked in golf management, operations and teaching. In November 2004, he became a licensed real estate broker. He worked first for Re/MAX Ideal Properties and is now associated with Keller Williams Realty of Southern Oregon. Donna Taylor has been hired as accounts representative, a newly created marketing position for Genesis, a member of Asante Health System. Taylor is returning to the field of chemical dependency treatment and mental health services, in which she was formerly a counselor. She was previously executive director of WinterSpring Center for Living with Loss and Grief from 1998 to 2006. Taylor is a graduate of Southern Oregon University with bachelor's degrees in psychology and political science. She can be reached at 789-9037. uStacey Boals has been named principal broker at newly created First Charter Realty LLC, which is handling sales for Spring Valley Estates Phases II and III, Spring Meadows and Bella Vista, an estate-lot subdivision. Boals has been with Coldwell Banker Pro West for the past 14 years, sits on the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors' board of directors and on the Oregon Association of Realtors' executive committee. She was the 2003 president of RVAR, and was the 2003 RVAR Realtor of the Year. She also sits on the Salvation Army Citizens' Advisory Board. First Charter Realty is at 2800 Biddle Road in Medford.
