News Briefs Sex offender released, will live in Medford A convicted sex offender has been released from the Jackson County Jail to live in Medford. Robert Lee Eamon, 29, will be living at 2108 E. Barnett Road, according to Jackson County Community Corrections. Eamon was convicted on July 22 of third-degree sexual abuse for sexually contacting a woman he approached in a parking lot. He was originally sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of probation. He is to have no contact with the victim, and is required to register as a sex offender, submit a blood sample for DNA testing, submit to polygraph testing and have no contact with children. Anyone who seeing misconduct is asked to contact community corrections at 774-4900. Two men arrested in robbery Medford police Tuesday night arrested two men in connection with a residential robbery that occurred last month. Medford police arrested Melvin Morgan Sullivant, 28, of 402 N. Ross Lane, Medford, on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, and second-degree assault. Sean Charles "Ace" Preston, 32, address unknown, was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. Medford police said that Sullivant and Preston went to a home in the 600 block of West 11th Street in Medford on Aug. 24 and robbed a 32-year-old man. Police said Sullivant pistol-whipped and kicked the victim before the pair stole his wallet, cash and some of his clothes. Police found the victim's clothes when they searched Sullivant's home. Police said the victim suffered bumps and bruises. Police learned of the robbery while investigating two other residential robberies on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Two men have been arrested in those cases; a third suspect remains at large. Cub Scouts will recruit tonight Cub Scout Pack 16 will hold a recruitment roundup at 7 tonight in the cafeteria at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria, 3101 McLoughlin Drive, Medford. Paving will close Ross Lane Ross Lane between West Main Street and McAndrews Road in Medford will be closed for paving for up to 10 consecutive days beginning Saturday. The Oregon Department of Transportation asks motorists to use an alternate route during the project. North invites parents to class Parents of North Medford High School students are invited to experience a school day during North's open house Monday. The evening session will give parents eight minutes in each class. Parents will follow their student's class schedule. Teachers will present information on curriculum, class expectations, special projects, grading and homework. Administrators and other school staff will be available in the gym to answer questions. The open house will begin with refreshments in the courtyard at 6 p.m., and a program for all parents at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Classroom sessions will be from 6:45 to 8:50 p.m. Additional information about the program is available from the school, 776-8726. Body ID'd as missing woman An autopsy has confirmed that a body found in a car in a remote area outside Wimer is that of a missing Grants Pass woman. Betty J. Kachman, 75, died of natural causes, said Grants Pass Detective Dan Evans. A hunter found Kachman and her 1979 Mercury Marquis on a U.S. Forest Service road almost a week ago.
