Klenke fuels South to victory over Klamath Union KLAMATH FALLS - Jonathan Klenke established lifetime bests in the 100 meters, 200 and triple jump and added a fourth victory in the 4x100 relay to fuel the South Medford boys to an 82-63 victory over Klamath Union in a Southern Oregon Conference dual track meet on Thurday. Klenke, a junior, sped to a clocking of 11.0 seconds in the 100, ran the 200 in 22.5 and sailed 41 feet, 91/2 inches in the triple jump as the Panther boys remained unbeaten in four SOC dual meets. Not to be outdone, teammate Dan Hilgendorf clocked a lifetime best of 51.6 to claim the boys 400 and anchored the Panthers' 4x400 relay squad to a season's best time of 3:27.8, the fifth-best in school history. Hilgendorf ran a 50-flat split in the long relay. "Klenke had a great day with those three PRs, but we had a lot of kids perform well," South Medford coach Bill Rowan said. "The weather wasn't the best but that didn't seem to slow us down." KU's Lauren Jespersen raced to a season's best time of 1:53.8 in the 800 to edge out teammate Jacob Lopez, who was clocked in 1:55.6. Jespersen's time is second-best in the state this season. The powerful South Medford girls team also remained unbeaten in dual action. Freshman sprinter Kaylyn Knutson had a big day for the Panthers, posting a lifetime best of 12.5 in winning the 100, taking the 200 in 26.8 and sailing to a lifetime best of 16-8 in the long jump.
