It's structured into five acts, each parodying American and British musical theater styles and all dealing with the classic melodramatic plot: "I can't pay the rent!" The show runs through May 17 at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, First and Hargadine streets, Ashland. Curtain is at 8 p.m., 1 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday matinees. Tickets cost $35. Bistro seating is available for $21. A benefit performance will be offered at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 11. Tickets cost $45, and part of the proceeds will benefit Friends of the Animal Shelter. Tickets, information and reservations are available at www.oregoncabaret.com or by calling 541-488-2902. Dinner reservations begin at 6:30 p.m. for evening shows; brunch begins at 11:30 a.m. for 1 p.m. matinees. L.E.F.T. — The Rogue Valley rock band, with bandleader and guitarist Bret Levick, slide guitarist Bob Evoniuk, bassist Greg Frederick and drummer Matt Terreri, will play an eclectic mix of originals and roots rock — think The Band, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones — at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, at Bella Union, 170 W. California St., Jacksonville. There is no cover for the show. Emma's Revolution — Activists and award-winning musicians Pat Humphries and Sandy O will perform their characteristic rousing and soulful songs of social conscience at 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Unitarian Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. Smart, funny and informative — like Rachel Maddow or Jon Stewart with guitars — Emma's Revolution uses vocal harmonies and acoustic instrumentals to deliver the energy and strength of its convictions. The duo's newest album, "Revolutions Per Minute," is a soundscape of intimate acoustic to full-on funk music. Tickets cost $20 in advance and can be purchased in the Unitarian Center, Music Coop, 268 E. Main St., or online at emmasrevolution.com. Northwest Dance Project — The Portland-based contemporary dance company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. The company is known for its athleticism and artistry as it fosters collaboration between choreographers and talent, resulting in the development of original dance pieces. Tickets cost $24, $27 or $30, $10 for ages 18 and younger, and can be purchased at the Craterian box office, 16 S. Bartlett, online at craterian.org or by calling 541-779-3000. Ashland Co-Dependent Film Festival — The Bad Film Society, in response to the classier film festival in town, will present a comedy extravaganza Sunday, April 12, in the basement of the Ashland Elks. The feature will be "Gremlins 2: The New Batch." It's a satire of a sequel and a box office failure to the tune of $50 million. When the gremlins take over a New York City skyscraper owned by an evil tycoon, insane action like that of a Warner Brothers cartoon about genetic engineering ensues. Look for unexpected cameos and plot twists. Hysterical short films, including the 1943 Merrie Melodies cartoon that introduced the gremlin, also will be shown. Visitors should bring a dish to share for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Bring bad DVDs, videotapes or books to exchange or give away. Use the entrance to the Elk Lodge on Will Dodge Way, between East Main Street and Lithia Way. Admission costs $4; parking is free. See www.badfilmsociety.org.
