Taxi Service Yellow Taxi and Metro Taxi are currently allowed to m ake intra-city trips within the City of Medford. Cascade Cab is allowed to m ake drop-offs in Medford from the White City area. Yellow Taxi is allowed to operate throughout all of Jackson County . Elderly and Disability Service As noted above, RVTD provides discounted fares fo r seniors and people with disabilities on its regular fixed route service, and the Valley Lift paratransit service for people with disabilities who are unable to use regular lift-equipped buses or whose trip cannot be m ade using fixed route service. Aside from the service provided by RVTD, there are num erous private, non-profit and other agencies that provide transportation services to elderly and/or disab led passengers in the Medford area. Key agencies providing these services include the Rogue Valley Senior Volunteer Program and the Upper Rogue Com munity Center. Intercity Bus Service The inform ation in this section was obtained from current Grey hound route service m aps and schedules. Greyhound Bus Lines Grey hound provides daily intercity bus service along the I-5 corridor between Medford and destinations both to the north and south. Six trips between Me dford and destinations to the north (including the Willam ette Valley and Portland) are provided, including one trip to the north that begins and ends in Ashland. Five daily trips are provided between Medfor d and destinations to the south. Service in both directions is provided seven day s per week. The Medford Grey hound depot, located on Bartlett Street in the downtown a few blocks from RVTD’ s Front Street station, is accessible via the local RVTD transit system . Transportation Sy stem Manage ment/Transportation Demand Management Transportation System Management Transportation Sy stem Managem ent (or TSM) im provem ents include actions designed to m aximize efficient use of the existing transportation sy stem . TSM strategies include actions such as traffic signalization, signal sy nchronization to im prove tr affic progression (particularly along m ajor arterial streets), signal retim ing, channelization im provem ents, one-way streets, parking prohibitions, turn prohibitions, use of Intelligent Transportation Sy stem s (ITS), and other actions. Traffic calm ing m easures can also be considered as TSM strategies. TSM activities currently underway in the Medford UGB include: Traffic Signaliz ation Figure 3-2 illustrates the location of existing traffic signals within the Medford UGB. The City , County and ODOT currently maintain and operate these signals. Along a number of travel corridors, the City has implem ented traffic signal tim ing plans to m aximize the sm ooth progression of vehicles. The City regularly evaluates the need for new signal installati ons when intersection traffic operations indicate the need and signal warrants are m et.
