Boyd cruises past Sell for victory at S.O. Speedway Over the course of 100 laps, you're going to have plenty of races within a race. Bob Boyd won the most important of those races on Saturday night. The Albany driver wrestled the lead away from Russ Sell on the 95th lap and went on to win the $1,600 feature in the open competition to culminate the weekend's Budweiser Cup at the Southern Oregon Speedway. Boyd, who also won the main event when the late model outlaw tour made its way to Southern Oregon last year, led at various stages during the race. Sell took the lead for the first time on the 78th lap and held on until Boyd made his move and eventually took the checkered. Sell finished second and managed to wrap up the points title in the series, which makes its way down I-5 throughout the summer and early fall. The majority of the 86 drivers in the open competition came from the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon. Like Boyd, another driver who knows a thing or two about winning put an exclamation point on his season at the speedway on Saturday night. Pro stock season champion Jim Walker Jr. passed Eric Bray on the 19th lap and cruised to victory in the Rapp Racing Race of Champions. Walker Jr. won 11 features during the regular season on the way to the eighth points title of his career. Saturdays race included all pro stock feature winners from the 2001 season plus eight other drivers based on the point standings. Open Competition Time Trials: 1. Russ Sell; 2. Bob Jeffery; 3.
