PUBLIC SAFETY Portland woman struck by vehicle last week dies in hospital By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Nov. 21, 2014 @ 8:26 am Updated Nov 21, 2014 at 8:31 AM By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Nov. 21, 2014 @ 8:26 am Updated Nov 21, 2014 at 8:31 AM » Social News A Portland woman struck by a car while jogging in an east Medford crosswalk last Saturday has died. Medford police reported Denise Elizabeth Anderson, 25, succumbed to severe head injuries at 2:24 p.m. Thursday at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Anderson had been at the hospital in critical condition since Saturday afternoon. A report of Anderson being struck by a car was first reported at 3:14 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the intersection of Crater Lake Avenue and Brookhurst Street. An investigation showed Anderson had been jogging eastbound in the crosswalk on the intersection's south side. The vehicle that hit her was traveling westbound on Brookhurst Street and was making a left turn onto Crater Lake Avenue when it ran into Anderson. Law enforcement from the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction — STAR — Team investigated the incident Saturday and closed off the intersection during their analysis of the crash site. Police have declined to release the name of the driver but have said the motorist did not appear to be under the influence of any intoxicants at the time of the crash. The case has been forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for review and any possible charges. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected].
