"This is traditionally a very low turnout election," said Kathy Beckett, Jackson County clerk. "We’re getting a little more activity in Ashland because there are some real races there." School, water and fire districts around the county will elect board members in today’s election. Many of the races, however, are uncontested. This was one of the more complex elections to prepare for, according to the elections office. "We have 80 different ballots going out ... because of all the different districts," said Beckett. Voters who still plan to send in ballots must take them to a drop site by the deadline at 8 p.m. today. "Don’t mail them in, it’s too late," said Beckett. Ballots may be dropped off at the curbside drop box at 1101 W. Main St., Medford. Drop-off sites also are at 10 of the 15 county library branches: Ashland has a 24-hour drop site, while branches in Central Point, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Rogue River, Shady Cove, Talent and White City take ballots during library hours only.
