November 09. 2014 2:00AM Daniel Joseph "DJ" Drewien Daniel Joseph "DJ" Drewien passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in Eugene, Ore. He was born August 29, 1972 in Salinas, Calif. to William E. Drewien and Kyle Anne (Drewien) Nielsen. Daniel and Jennifer L. King were married September 11, 2000 in Grants Pass at a ceremony along the Rogue River. Daniel was an active member of the Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Alpha Chapter of Oregon for Scholastic Achievement in Economics and the International Honor Society in Economics. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History, Economics, and Business from SOU, and received an MBA in Global Management from NYIT. He graduated from North Medford High in 1990. He excelled in football and baseball, and was named to the 1990 OSAA All-State baseball team. He played for the Medford Mustangs and the Northwest Area Code Team before attending San Diego State on a baseball scholarship. He was then drafted by the San Diego Padres as a pitcher in 1993, playing until 1995 when he retired from an arm injury. He enjoyed reading, history, football, baseball, golf, and spending time with friends and family. Daniel is survived by his son, Daniel J. Drewien Jr.; former wife and always friend, Jennifer King; brother, Matt (Staci) Drewien; sister, Shelley (Mark) Giustina; mother, Kyle Nielsen; father, Bill Drewien; step-mother, Nancy Drewien; nieces, Paris, Ella, and Lucy; and nephews, Tristan and C.J. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William F. and Alma Drewien and Joseph and Betty Gheen. A Catholic reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 280 N. Fourth St. Jacksonville, Ore. 97530. A reception will be held after the service upstairs at Bella Union. Please make memorial contributions in DJ's name to North Medford Baseball, 2762 E. McAndrews, Medford, Ore. 97504. Arrangement are in care of the Drewien Family and Musgrove Mortuaries of Eugene. DJ will always be in the hearts and thoughts of his many close friends, along with his brother Matt, sister Shelley and his father and mother, and son Daniel.
