The Ashland Fine Art Music Festival Sep 03, 2010 12:00 AM A A A preview of what opera lovers can expect from a new music festival in Ashland will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way. Baritone Dan Gibbs will sing Papageno's "The Magic Flute" and soprano Chrystelle Couturier will sing Bellini's "Casta Diva" from "Norma," Puccini's "Vissi d'Arte" from "Tosca" and an aria from Catalani's "La Wally." The singers will be accompanied by pianist Mikiko Petrucelli and violinist Aaron Moffat. Webster Young, a composer and director of the new Ashland Fine Art Music Festival, and Robert E. Crawford of the Robert E. Crawford Music Foundation will be on hand to discuss formation of the festival. Admission is free. On Monday, Sept. 6, Couturier will present a full-length concert from the dramatic soprano repertoire at 7:30 p.m. at the community center. The concert will include arias from Bizet's "Carmen" and others from "Andrea Chenier," "Adriana Lecouvreur," "Manon Lescaut" and Massenet. Gibbs, Petruccelli and Moffat also will perform.
