'Possible' explosive found in Talent was the real deal By Mail Tribune staff Jun 26, 2019 12:00 AM A A Whatever happened with that “possible explosive” that brought out a bomb squad to a home in Talent last Thursday? Have they named any suspects? — via email It appears we can strike the adjective “possible” from the description of the improvised explosive device found at a home in the 100 block of South First Street in Talent last Thursday, according to Talent police Chief Tim Doney. “It is our understanding that it was, in fact, an explosive,” Doney said in an email Tuesday. Doney said no suspects have been identified. For those just tuning in, the neighborhood was cordoned off for several hours Thursday afternoon after a homeowner spotted the explosive device in their home a few minutes before 2 p.m. According to news reports, Talent police had the homeowner evacuate the area, and they helped search the property with Jackson County Parole and Probation before calling Oregon State Police bomb squad technicians to the scene to safely remove the bomb. Doney said the homeowner was cooperating in the investigation, and that investigators believe the incident was an isolated one. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Talent police at 541-535-1253 and reference case No. 19-2065. Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
