Photo by Bob Pennell Sweet day for moms Leah Middlebrooks and her 15-month-old daughter, Josie, of Klamath Falls, were among dozens gathered Sunday in Medford's Alba Park for a Mother's Day celebration sponsored by the SafePlace and geared toward mothers facing adversity. Poetry was read, songs were sung and prayers were prayed. Even while they were praised from the podium, mothers continued their unselfish work. Middlebrooks bounced her daughter gently, others moved blankets to cover chilly feet, hushed fussy babies and provided subdued instruction like one mother's "Don't throw, sweetie pie" to her stick-carrying 2-year-old son.
