Jordan, a junior transfer from Baker City, posted a winning 5K time of 20 minutes, 5.6 seconds. She was the Class 3A state champion in 2001. "Missing the turn probably cost her 10 or 15 seconds," North Medford coach Marnie Mason said. "She was patient and didn’t get rattled." The Grants Pass girls won the meet due to a tiebreaker. The Cavers tied North Medford with 58 points, but received the win because of a better finish with its sixth runner. Ashland placed third, just two points back. Klamath Union was fourth with 99 points, but two of the Pels’ top five runners didn’t compete. The Crater Comets used good grouping to win the boys side of the meet with a score of 54. Klamath Union, which had the top two runners, finished second with 64. GIRLS TEAM SCORES — Grants Pass 58, North Medford 58, Ashland 60, Klamath Union 99, Crater 121, Roseburg 136, South Medford 152. ST. MARY’S INVITATIONAL — Many runners were sent the wrong way on the course, rendering most of the results inaccurate. Among those who ran the proper 5,000-meter distance were St. Mary’s boy Ben Tribelhorn (18:48) and girl Leah Sawyer (20:42). For the Cascade Christian girls, Kate Hoskin ran 24:55.
