Really, Mr. Trump? So this is all showmanship to garner votes? What about his vague promises on the issues — on immigration, Obamacare, ISIS, national security? Is all that showmanship too, in order to boost his standing in the polls? He has no political record for the people to examine, and he claims that his political views have shifted over the years. Who is he really, and what does he stand for? How can we know what he actually intends to do as president? He hosted a reality show, so it sure would be nice to get a heavier dose of reality about who he really is. Will the real Donald Trump please stand up! Bob Dale Grants Pass Socialism has arrived Socialism has finally arrived in Oregon,thanks to the unelected governor and her Democrat cronies. After starting my work ladder at $1.25 an hour, I have spent over 45 years working within this state, slowly and gradually improving my wage to what it is today. The average annual wage increase is probably 2-3 percent for lucky workers or zero for many. Our state leaders say, hey, it’s not our money, let’s give away 30 percent to our minimum-wage workers. Now the wage I am paid for having experience, knowledge and perseverance has just lost 30 percent of its value. Add on the price increases I will see from businesses having to absorb this outlandish increase and the reduced competition from small businesses that are forced to close and it’s not hard to see a 20 percent increase of costs of goods and services associated with these changes. Net result, less money to be spent in Oregon by the 90 percent not on minimum wage. Those of you that disagree with me please feel free to send a check to the state of Oregon to help support this boondoggle. For me, I am damn mad and it's time to vote these idiots out. Gary Reed Phoenix Premeditated killing In Kristin O’Driscoll’s letter to the editor she says, and I quote: “The premeditated killing of a human being is first-degree murder, and age is not a factor.” I’m glad to know that O’Driscoll will work as hard to abolish capital punishment as abortion, since capital punishment, whether accomplished via pills, electric chair, hanging, etc., is definitely premeditated. As a person who is definitely opposed to capital punishment, I greatly appreciate her efforts. Mary Wright Medford Why? Every day, somewhere in the world, some Muslims slaughter many people! On a daily basis Muslims cause great pain and suffering around the globe. We constantly hear of suicide bombings. We regularly hear about gangs of Muslims shooting up churches and schools. They have bombed several planes out of the air recently. There is no doubt that the largest percentage of terrorist acts around the world are committed by Muslims. But, we are constantly being told that we should not judge all Muslims by the actions of a few bad ones. And, among doctors, policemen, government workers, motorists and military members, there are a few bad people. But, among them, we are told that we should not judge all others by the actions of a few bad people. Today there are approximately 100 million gun owners in America. Some are criminals and commit atrocious actions with their guns. The vast majority are law-abiding and commit no crimes. However, this time we are told that we must judge and punish all gun owners for the nefarious actions of a few bad ones! Why? Darrell C.
