And the eighth-ranked Indians romped to a 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 Southwest Conference volleyball victory at the South Medford gym. "They rely on their outsides," South Medford coach Adam Wagman said. "And we weren't able to step up and challenge them." The senior Harrison pounded 10 kills, while sophomore Powers provided eight. "(South Medford) had a lot of unforced errors," said Roseburg coach Bruce Myers, whose team won its first three-game SWC match. "We had a little bit better ball control than we've had in the past." Advertisement Roseburg received 10 digs from Tasha Bishop and 32 assists from setter Anna Palotai. While Roseburg (14-5, 4-2 SWC) was playing at a high level, South Medford (3-8, 2-4 SWC) hurt its cause with mistakes. The Panthers had 24 kills, but 23 hitting errors. "At different points in the match we were not in that bad of shape, but we're not going to beat anyone with that type of hitting percentage," said Wagman. "During long rallies, Roseburg was able to make a play to win the rally." South Medford senior outside Karlie Cunningham had a team-high seven kills and played well passing the ball. Other Panther leaders were Sara George (16 assists), Lauren Thompson (three blocks) and Audrey Berning (12 digs). "Right now we need to find more consistent offensive rhythm," said Wagman. "We're a team that has to play at a real steady level and have to make good quality contact every time." SOUTH EUGENE 3, GRANTS PASS 2 — At Eugene, Grants Pass couldn't convert when it counted and South Eugene edged the Cavers 25-20, 18-25, 17-25, 25-20, 15-12. Chelsey Chamberlain recorded 19 aces, seven kills and a pair of aces and freshman setter Monica Jordan compiled 52 assists and six kills for Grants Pass (1-8, 0-6 SWC).
