Nutter wins in return to speedway Bill Nutter returned to the Southern Oregon Speedway in style on Saturday night. Racing for the first time in 2001, the veteran Rogue Valley driver took the checkered flag in the sprint car feature, one of three feature events on the evening. Brian Poppa came on strong and won the feature for the dirt modifieds. Meanwhile, Pat Akins set the pace for the mini stocks, besting division points leader Tom Lanigan in the main event. Akins is second in the points race. Racing continues Saturday night at the speedway. The annual Lon Skinner Memorial will highlight the festivities. Gates open at 4 p.m., with racing starting at 6.
