PREP XC: Dixon leads South at Ash Creek Festival By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Sep 10, 2022 09:12 PM A A MONMOUTH — The young South Medford boys cross-country had a solid showing at the Ash Creek XC Festival, finishing 13th in the 28-team field Saturday at Ash Creek Preserve on the campus of Western Oregon University. South sophomore Eli Dixon led the way for the Panthers, finishing the 5,000-meter course in 61st place with a time of 17 minutes, 53.5 seconds. Fellow sophomore Devon Scott was 76th in 18:16.3. The Grants Pass boys also had a solid day, finishing 10th in the team standings. Juniors Matt Rieman (17:16) and Jaia Hannagan (17:52) finished in 42nd and 60th place, respectively, to lead the Cavers. On the girls side, South Medford finished 15th in the team standings. Grants Pass was ninth. Marshfield’s Alexander Garcia-Silver, the reigning Class 4A state champion, won the boys race in 8:49.7. Jesuit sophomore Maura O’Scannlain won the girls race in 18:21.80. Jesuit swept the team titles, finishing ahead of West Salem and Franklin. BOYS TEAM SCORES: Jesuit 54, West Salem 65, Franklin 93, Ida B.
