The NAIA Div. I Lady Griffins (4-10) led just 50-45 with 12 minutes remaining, but the Salt Lake City, Utah, school went on a 22-2 run over the next nine minutes to halt an eight-game losing skid. Westminster, which led 33-31 at halftime, converted 16 of 34 second-half shots and reversed a 19-14 Raider first-half rebounding edge. The Griffins won the board battle, 23-15, in the final 20 minutes. The Raiders (3-6), who suffered their first home loss since Dec. 14, 2002, missed 18 of 27 shots and all eight 3-point attempts in the second stanza. Sophomore forward Emily Brough led SOU with nine points and seven rebounds, and sophomore guard Stacy Ermini's solid performance netted five points, seven rebounds and four assists. The Raiders remain tied atop the Cascade Conference standings with Oregon Tech and Friday night's opponent, Northwest College, with a 2-0 mark. Men’s Basketball WESTERN OREGON 77, SOUTHERN OREGON 73 — At Monmouth, Western Oregon went on a 26-4 run in the first nine minutes of the second half to reverse a 16-point halftime deficit on their way to a victory over Southern Oregon in the nightcap of the Best Western Dallas Inn & Suites Fibromyalgia Classic at the Physical Education Building. Western Oregon (7-2) outscored their former Cascade Conference rivals 54-34 in the second half. But they still had to survive a Raider comeback in the final minutes of the game to preserve the win. The Raiders (6-10) cut a 12-point WOU lead to 66-64 after a Brad Coen trey with 3:40 left, and Coen hit another one a minute later to make it 68-67. But Kevin Tyner hit back-to-back 3s and had 10 points in the final three minutes to hold off SOU. Southern Oregon took advantage of poor Western Oregon shooting and found range of their own in blitzing to a 16-point lead in the first 20 minutes. The Wolves shot just 29 percent from the floor and were 2 of 12 from 3-point range before intermission as the Raiders capped a rousing first half with a Jared Abell dunk at the buzzer to give the visitors a 39-23 halftime margin. But the Wolves came out of the locker room on fire, going on a 16-1 run in the first four and a half minutes of play to cut the Raider margin to one point (40-39). The Wolves took the lead on a Kelly fadeaway (41-40) at the 14:05 mark, capping an 18-1 blitz. Abell led the Raiders in scoring with 20 points and nine boards, while Coen had 17 and Shea Washington added 10 points and nine rebounds.
