Wright’s two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning tied Merced 3-3 before the game was suspended by rain on Saturday. On Monday, Wright, a sophomore third baseman, delivered a ninth-inning RBI double to lift Shasta to a 4-3 victory over the Devils to end Saturday’s twice-rain delayed contest. Shasta advances to the eight-team state tournament Friday and Saturday at the Maidu Sports Complex in Roseville, Calif. In another junior college regional at Weed, Calif., College of the Siskiyous fell to defending state champion Sacramento City 3-2 in 11 innings to get eliminated. The Eagles beat Butte 8-0 and Sacramento City 3-1 to force the decisive game in the double-elimination format. Advertisement Siskiyous (34-14) received contributions from a pair of Southern Oregon Conference players in the victory over Sacramento City. Sophomore Brin Tamblin of Grants Pass hit a two-run homer and former Crater standout Kelsey Anhorn added a sacrifice fly.
