Loyd was a football and basketball star at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, before playing four seasons of basketball at Oregon. After using his eligibility in basketball, Loyd, 5-foot-8, 165 pounds, decided to return to school and play football during his final year. “I did a lot of catching up this summer,” Loyd said. He also worked on the mental part of the game. “I’m in that football mindset, that mode, I’m ready for fall camp,” he said. “It is definitely a mindset because football and basketball are two completely different sports in the way you move and attack things. Basketball is more tempo and you kind of pace yourself because you can’t get too out of control. In football, you have to go as hard as you can for a play and then stop. Then go as hard as you can again. So it is different and I had to get my legs back doing that again.
