Search for missing teen will continue The search for a missing Alaskan teen who tried to swim from the north shore of Howard Prairie Lake to Doe Island Friday afternoon will continue today. According to a report from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Isaiah James Florendo, 17, of Kenai, Alaska, was swimming at 11:45 a.m. when he was reportedly overcome by the frigid water. Isaiah Florendo's father, Brent Florendo, 44, of Talent, was fishing with friend Tony Blomstrom, 25, of Siletz, at the time of the accident. According to reports, Brent Florendo and Blomstrom attempted to rescue Isaiah Florendo but nearly drowned in the cold water themselves. The two men were rescued by a nearby fishermen in a boat, police report. The Jackson County Emergency Services Aquatic Team attempted to locate Florendo's body but called off the search at 6 p.m. Divers are expected to continue their efforts at 12:30 p.m. today. The sheriff's department was assisted by Ashland Fire and Rescue, Jackson County Fire District 5, Metro Air One and the Oregon State Police. Attempts to contact the sheriff's department were unsuccessful Friday night.
