I enjoyed reading his commentary. Commentators with Thomas’ values and ethics are sadly lacking these days. Please bring his column back. — Ardith J., Central Point Sorry, Ardith, but Cal’s been traded for a younger conservative, Rich Lowry. We here in the lowly Since You Asked Department put on our best coveralls and approached the editorial page department, high atop Mount Olympus, to ask the mighty scribes for their reasons. They pondered the question at length, considered the alternatives, held three editorial board meetings and finally told us: "We like the new guy better." Advertisement Actually, Lowry does come with impeccable conservative credentials (hey, if we keep using big words like that, maybe we could be on the editorial board). He is the editor of the National Review, a cornerstone of American conservatism. A recent review describes him "one of the most prominent and respected faces among the emerging pack of young passionate conservatives." And, we’re told, he really irritates Molly Ivins fans. So, Cal Thomas may be gone, but the tradition lives on. Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
