The crash happened at 7:22 a.m. near the intersection of Barnett and Black Oak Drive. Preliminary reports said the Phoenix-Talent School District bus, heading to Orchard Hill Elementary, was traveling east when the truck, a Dodge Dakota pickup, struck it from behind. Another bus arrived to pick up the students, according to Medford Fire-Rescue Captain Joel Matlock. One student was released to his parents, who took him to school, Matlock said. Police and fire officials closed one lane following the crash. Traffic was affected in the hour afterward, backing up cars and trucks from Black Oak Drive nearly to the overpass. The pickup driver, Bryan Note, 23, of Medford, was cited for careless driving, police said.
