The open houses will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at North Medford High School cafeteria, 1900 Keene Way Drive, and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hoover Elementary School, 2323 Siskiyou Blvd. The Leisure Services Plan is the guiding document for parks and recreation services and is being updated for the first time in a decade. The plan will provide recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Department and City Council on where additional parks and trails are to be located in Medford. The plan also will provide recommendations on the types of recreation services the department should continue, eliminate or expand upon. Comments from the public will be used to develop the final recommendations to the updated plan that will be reviewed and approved by the City Council in July. Implementation strategies will be developed during the summer and will produce the department’s new strategic plan in early fall 2016. More than 350 recreation programs are offered annually at various facilities throughout Medford. The department maintains 20 neighborhood parks, six community parks, five special use areas, seven linear and open space areas and 40 beautification areas, totaling 78 sites and 2,462 acres.
