Scouts, Moose, Lions schedule tree pickup O Christmas Tree, your needles have dropped and your green is fading. It's time to leave home. Here's some options for getting the tree out of your hair: Medford : On Saturday and Sunday, members of Moose Lodge 178, with the help of the Boy and Girl Scouts, will drive through neighborhoods from 10 a.m. until dark for their annual tree pickup. A $1 donation per tree is suggested; residents can leave the money on the trees at the curb, organizers said. Proceeds will aid CERVS, Scouts, Dogs for the Deaf and Medford Gospel Mission. The trees will be chipped with a donated machine in the lodge parking lot. Medford Mayor Jerry Lausmann has proclaimed the two days Christmas Tree Lift Weekend in honor of the lodge's four-plus decades of tree pickup. Ashland/Talent: The Lions Club and Boy Scout troops 535 and 112 will pick up trees between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. Scouts will accept donations; for those not at home, a pre-addressed envelope will be left for mail-in donations. Money collected is used to send Scouts to camp and finance other troop activities. Trees will be chipped and used for mulch and trail cover. Residents who live in an outlying area of Ashland or Talent and would like a tree picked up can call 535-2430 or 482-0042. Ashland Mayor Cathy Shaw has also declared the day Christmas Tree Recycle Day. If a tree pickup doesn't extend to your house, you can take your tree to Biomass One, 2350 Ave. G, White City. The facility accepts trees and other wood waste from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, at no charge. Medford residents who miss the Moose pickup can leave their trees curbside on trash pickup day for Rogue Disposal and Recycling to take; there is a charge of $1.50 for each 3-foot section of tree. Residents are also asked to call first, to let workers know the tree will be out for them and not another pickup. Rogue's number is 779-4161.
