The 6-foot post blocked an eye-popping 21 shots in Crater’s 56-48 win. Tyska was unstoppable from the tip-off as Grants Pass only managed only one point to 14 for the Comets (8-5, 1-2 SOC) after four minutes. That’s when the Cavers moved outside to avoid Tyska. "Nicki attacked everybody that went to the basket," Crater coach Scott Dippel said. "She did a great job of protecting the basket." Almost as amazing as the block total was that Tyska didn’t commit a foul. "Grants Pass has some very dangerous slashing guards, and Nicki neutralized them," Dippel said. "She was very disciplined." Advertisement Grants Pass got back into the game by taking advantage of transition baskets, even taking a one-point lead into halftime. "They had to change their game plan and really tried to force their transition," Dippel said. "When they did get in their half-court set, we saw more perimeter shooting." Kenna Reiter led Crater with 13 points, including a 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. The sophomore also added eight rebounds, four steals and four assists. Janelle Stoner added 11 points. Grants Pass got 15 points from Ashley Franko. GRANTS PASS (48) — Franko 15, Seymour 9, Potts 7, Klingel 6, Seimens 4, Van Brunt 3, Straw 3, Cameron 1, Wiersma 0.
