A Medford police officer Thursday arrested Merritt on charges of assaulting a public safety officer, harassment and driving under the influence of intoxicants. She was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where she remained Thursday night on $12,000 bail. Drugs — Adam Matthew Jacobs, 26, of the first block of Alida Street, Ashland. An Ashland police officer Thursday arrested Jacobs on charges of possession of amphetamines, distribution of marijuana, reckless driving, third-degree criminal mischief and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was booked into jail and released eight hours later on his own recognizance. Drugs — Robert Wayne Thorpe Jr., 46, no known address. A Medford police officer Thursday arrested Thorpe on a charge of possession of amphetamines, and several warrants charging him with failure to appear in court. He was lodged in jail without bail. Assault on a police officer — Jonah M. Shore, 23, of the 100 block of North Pacific Highway, Talent. An Ashland police officer Thursday arrested Shore on charges of assaulting a public safety officer, menacing and interfering with a peace officer. He was booked into jail and released 15 hours later on his own recognizance. Crime reports Burglary — 10600 block of East Antelope Road, White City. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy Thursday took a report of a residential burglary in which $5,500 worth of items were taken. Theft — 300 block of East Dutton Road, White City. A sheriff’s deputy Thursday took a report of a theft in which an all-terrain vehicle valued at $2,500 was taken. Advertisement Burglary — 2500 Jacksonville Highway, Medford. A Medford police officer Thursday took a report of a burglary in which cast-iron stones and handmade rugs valued at $1,950 were taken. Theft — 100 Bayberry Drive, Medford. A Medford police officer Thursday took a report of a theft in which a bike, clothing and other items valued at $2,000 were taken. Burglary — 2900 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. A Medford police officer Thursday took a report of a commercial burglary in which $950 worth of tools were taken. Fire calls Dryer fire — The interior of a home on the 200 block of Samuel Lane Loop Road in Phoenix was damaged Thursday morning by a fire that started inside a dryer. Ken Hull, interim fire chief of the Phoenix Fire Department, said the fire destroyed the dryer and its contents, and scorched the walls of the home’s utility room. Hull guessed the fire caused less than $5,000 worth of damage. Crews from Jackson County Fire District No. 5 and the Medford fire department assisted Phoenix firefighters at the home. It took fire crews just two minutes to get the fire under control, Hull said.
