BAND CONCERT MOST SUCCESSFUL The second concert given by the Medford Citizen's Band last night at the park was a most decided success. The members in their new uniforms looked quite smart, the respectability and discipline attracting not a little attention. The evening being pleasant a larger crowd was in attendance than at the initial performance given last Sunday. The band was the recipient of numerous encores at last evening's concert, and the program was splendidly arranged. The opening number was a stirring march, "Red Diamond," followed by the concert waltz, "Elaine," by Baxter, in which the clarinets play a pretty variation to the theme. The reviere, "Nature's Adoration," by Brooks, was one of the most enjoyable of the evening. The band's best efforts were undoubtedly heard in the grand medley, "Echoes From the Opera." That is an arrangement of operas that usually is attempted by only the better bands of the larger cities. The rendering given of these operas by our band last evening was most creditable for a band of a little over a month's practice. The last two items, Cyibutka's "Stephanie," gavotte and the march, "United Emblem," were played with precision and were followed by the concluding "Star Spangled Banner." With the band brought up to the creditable state it is within only a few weeks we can readily conceive the advancement that would have been made had the organization been under Mr. Rowland's direction during the preceding winter months. APPLEGATE The Everybody club gave a Leap Year hard time dance at the socialist hall Saturday and it looked like hard times to the boys in their patched overalls and the girls in their calico ball gowns, but hard times were still more apparent when the girls escorted the boys to the supper that consisted of baked beans, hoe cake, onions and coffee. Wednesday night the community held a meeting for the purpose of attending business pertaining to the field meet and it was decided to have a special day Sunday to put up the stand clear off the grounds and do the various other things that are connected with the big day.
