Four free dinners planned for Christmas Eve and day Four local free Christmas dinners are planned Friday and Saturday for those in need of holiday cheer. On Friday, the Medford Gospel Mission will serve dinner at 12:30 and 5 p.m. at 125 W. Jackson St. On Saturday, Christmas Day, a free dinner will be served starting at 11 a.m. at the kitchen of St. Vincent de Paul, 2424 N. Pacific Highway, Medford. Ashland residents can enjoy a free Christmas dinner from noon to 4 p.m. at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way. The dinner is sponsored by Ashland Christian Fellowship and involves dozens of church volunteers and Ashland businesses. Last year, volunteers served up about 800 ham and turkey dinners with all the trimmings. Also on Christmas Day, the Vitality Center, Fourth and L streets, Grants Pass, will serve a dinner. A musical prelude and sing-a-long will begin at noon. Buffet lines will open at 1 p.m. Dance music will follow dinner. Those wishing to share may bring desserts. Organizers ask that no raw foods or foods with mayonnaise be contributed. Reservations are required. Guests with reservations will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis.
