The advisory is set to be in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, covering a majority of Jackson County, including Ashland and Medford. Parts of Northern California, and Curry and Coos counties also are forecast to see high winds. "Some areas could see damaging winds with this storm, especially along the coast, in the Cascades, the Siskiyous and the Fremont and Warner mountains," the advisory said. "The Interstate 5 corridor in the Shasta Valley will also likely see very strong winds. This will make travel difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles." Sustained winds of up to 35 mph are expected, with gusts up to 55 mph in some spots, especially in the southern Rogue Valley and along the coast. The Siskiyou Summit and parts of Dead Indian Memorial Road could see gusts close to 54 mph, while Medford could see winds reaching 47 mph. The heaviest rains are expected to last from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. Weather officials said Medford could see close to half an inch over the weekend, while close to an inch is expected to fall on the Siskiyou Summit. Dead Indian Memorial Road, Lake of the Woods and Hayes Hill all are expected to see more than an inch, according to forecast data. Snow is also expected in areas, with levels forecast to drop from 7,000 feet to 4,000 feet Sunday morning, and possibly as low as 3,500 feet. Up to six inches could fall at Lake of the Woods by early Monday, with up to four inches on Dead Indian Memorial Road and less than inch forecast for the Siskiyou Summit.
