The Chieftains (11-2, 6-1 Skyline) overcame nine errors in the two games to defeat North Valley, 10-2 and 6-2, Saturday. "We were a little sloppy," said Rogue River coach John White, "but we got the job done. Our pitching was excellent. All the runs we gave up were unearned." Justin Castro and Spencer Frantz did the bulk of the mound work, each starting and going six innings before giving way to a reliever. In Game 1, Castro (4-1) allowed four hits, struck out two and walked three. He also had two hits, including a double. Advertisement "He did quite a bit of damage to us," said North Valley coach Jeff Uskoski. "He kept the ball in the zone and did a good job. He didn’t give us too much free." Rogue River scored five runs in the fourth inning for a 6-1 lead. The last two runs were on a double by Josh Hill. Mitch Reagles was 4-for-4, and Hill, Mike Miller, who scored three runs, and Alex Waroff also had two hits. Tim Stickler of North Valley (1-6 Skyline) was 2-for-3 and scored both runs.
