Because January often brings renewed commitment to financial as well as physical health, it’s probably a good time to review contact numbers for the nation’s three largest credit- reporting agencies. These agencies keep track of your credit — good and bad — and provide that information to lenders who ask. Starting last month, residents in 13 Western states can receive free credit reports, thanks to a new federal law. Remaining states will follow by September. The three largest agencies are Equifax, Experian and Trans Union Corp.
