Panthers kick North Eugene EUGENE -- Damian Rasmussen and Pat Lower scored goals in the opening 10 minutes and South Medford made them stand up in a 2-1 non-conference victory over North Eugene here Wednesday. Junior goalkeeper Kyle Hadley played his second strong game in a row in place of injured Andy Riggs. "Kyle had an exceptional performance," South Medford coach Dave Potter said. "He made five saves and three of them came during one-on-one situations. Kyle came up big." Rasmussen scored unassisted in the ninth minute when he sent a chip shot over the North Eugene keeper's head from 20 yards out. Just one minute later, Lower sent a bullet to the far post from 40 yards out and South (7-4-1) had a 2-0 lead. "I'm thinking we're going to blow these guys out," Potter said, "but they regrouped." The host Highlanders cut South's lead in half in the 53rd minute when speedy Andy Silke scored on a breakaway. North Eugene got a big break in the 66th minute when Hadley was called for a pushing in the box off a corner kick. The Highlanders were awarded a penalty kick but the shot hit the inside post and caromed across the goal mouth with going in.
