Dream Tree needs gifts for teenagers Santa's Dream Tree really needs a boost when it comes to gifts for teenagers. "We need teen gifts to come in, because they're coming in real slow," said Sue Martin, a longtime member of the Dream Tree crew. While the group has enough volunteers, and presents are pouring in for the little kids, it seems the gifts for teenagers are at a trickle. For the past 18 years, the Dream Tree crew has written the names of school-aged children on ornaments and hung them on Christmas trees placed at local stores. They have added seniors' names to the ornaments in the past several years. And for the same 18 years, Jackson County residents have generously bought thousands of gifts to fit the needs of the children named on the ornaments. This year the trees are at the north and south Fred Meyers, Toys 'R' Us, Rogue Valley Medical Center on Barnett Road, the Bureau of Land Management on Biddle Road, and Gebzz The Gallery, 150 S. Oregon St., Jacksonville. Martin said ideal gifts for teenagers include clothes, big sweatshirts, makeup, electronic handheld games such as Yahtzee, board games, model cars, and music gift certificates.
