Phoenix boys swim to triumph ASHLAND -- Phoenix High's boys swim team, unbeaten in league last winter, opened the season with an impressive four-way victory Tuesday at Southern Oregon University's pool. The Pirates rolled up 142 points, followed by North Valley with 79, Mazama 33 and Reedsport 16. North Valley won the girls competition, scoring 120 points. Reedsport had 105, Phoenix 62 and Mazama 19. Kris Kizer, Michael Oxendine and Jake Helfrich were double-winners for the Pirates, who added victories in three relays. Phoenix's Kristen Heath was a double-winner in girls competition and turned in a 58.69-second leg in the 400 freestyle relay.
