Medford police investigate death of homeless man Police on Friday were investigating the death of a homeless man who was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday night. The body of 38-year-old Ronald Lee Willis was found in a ditch at the 500 block of Beebe Road around 8 a.m. Friday. Jackson County sheriff's deputies determined that Willis was struck by a vehicle as he was walking westbound on Beebe around 10 p.m. Thursday. The driver returned as police were investigating at the scene, said sheriff's Lt. Dewey Patten. Jason Darrell Mize, 26, of the 600 block of Wilson Road, Central Point, was interviewed and his vehicle - a 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup with Oregon license plate TYG-214 - was towed to be examined by police. No charges were filed against Mize. The case will be forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for further review, Patten said. Patten did not comment Friday on why Mize allegedly hit Willis or why he left the scene. Funeral arrangements are pending at Conger-Morris Funeral Home.
