School burglary suspects caught, thanks to call Burglars at Roosevelt Elementary School were caught red-handed by police early Tuesday morning after an alert citizen spotted one of them scaling a wall. "I don't think they were going in there to study," Medford police Lt. Tim George quipped. Jonathan Lynn Harper, 23, of 15700 Antioch Road, White City, and Jarrod Kaleb Owens, 23, of 1804 Brookhurst St. in Medford, were arrested on second-degree burglary charges. They were lodged in Jackson County jail on $5,000 bail. Police responded to the school at 112 Lindley St. at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday after someone saw one suspect climb the wall and enter a left-open second-story window. The suspect then let his accomplice in through a door. The citizen called police as the burglary was happening, and police responded within four minutes. George believed the burglary suspects heard the police coming and tried to flee, but police foiled that and caught them as they were leaving the school. The men were not carrying any property with them, and no damage or property loss was reported. "This is a great observation by the citizen," George said. He said police are successful when people see things that aren't right and let them know. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
