North slips by Roseburg ROSEBURG - North Medford had trouble putting away Roseburg in a non-conference softball game Monday. Twice the Indians came back to tie the game - once in the bottom of the seventh and again in the 10th. But Deni Rowley's two-run, 11th-inning double proved to be the winning hit as fifth-ranked North registered a 6-5 victory. Rowley's two-out hit scored Keri Sevano and Chrystal Brown. The Indians (17-6) answered with one run in the bottom half of the inning, but the rally fell short. North Medford (19-5) was paced by Beth Morrill's three hits and two each from Britney Hillyer and Rowley. Roseburg senior Jessica Sharpless rapped four hits and junior catcher Cari Schruth added three. Southern Oregon Conference champion North Medford hosts Sunset in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs Monday, while second-place Roseburg entertains Gresham.
