Interview provides no details on dead man By Mark Freeman The arrest and interview of a 49-year-old alleged drug dealer this past weekend failed to shed new light on how a Medford man turned up dead from a drug overdose in a Medford hospital parking lot last summer, authorities said Monday. Medford police detectives have spent the past three months searching for John David Dudley to help unearth information on how and why the decomposing body of Jim Jon Burns ended up in a car at the Providence Medford Medical Center parking lot July 30. A tip led police Saturday morning to Dudley, who investigators believe drove his dead friend there in hopes that hospital staff would find him. But investigators� long-awaited chat with Dudley turned out to be a dud. Dudley kept mum Sunday about his dead associate, police said. "What�s bothered us from the beginning is the manner in which this person was dropped in a car in the parking lot," Medford police Lt. Tim George said Monday. "We�re not any closer to the explanation now than when we started this. "We�d like to hear Mr. Dudley�s version of what happened," George said. George said Dudley remains a "person of interest" in the case and that the investigation continues. Police believe Burns, a 49-year-old man with a history of drug arrests, died in late July after taking methamphetamine with Dudley in the Gold Hill area. Police have also said they suspect that Dudley drove the car with Burns� body in it to the hospital parking lot and left it there. Burns� body was discovered there on July 30, as many as four days after his death, police said. An autopsy revealed that Burns died from a methamphetamine overdose in combination with a respiratory ailment, George said. Burns� death so far has not been ruled a homicide and there is no indication foul play was involved, George said. But police have wanted answers about what happened just before Burns� death and how the body made it to the hospital parking lot. And for three months, they looked for Dudley to supply those answers. Saturday morning police found Dudley at 1090 Ellendale Ave., Apt. B-1, where they arrested him on the warrants as well as charges of possession and delivery of methamphetamines, police said. Police allege that they found less than an ounce of methamphetamine packaged for sale, George said. Also arrested at the apartment on felony charges of hindering prosecution and possession of methamphetamine was Tammy Lynn Rydall, 33, who lives at the apartment, George said. Police allege that Rydall tried to keep police from entering the apartment to arrest Dudley. Both were lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
