Coyotes in the region of Ft. Klamath bring $4.75, residents of Fort Klamath having pledged an additional $2 for each animal killed. The situation in Klamath county was described as not serious, but fear is felt that rabid coyotes might find refuge in Klamath county from the vigorous campaign being waged against them in Modoc and Starke counties in California. LOCAL AND PERSONAL A. T. Lundgren, mining man and one of the pioneers in the Blue Ledge district, is in the city for a day or two, renewing acquaintance with the multitude and incidentally offering a friendly nod to good old Santa Claus. Mr. Lundgren says the weather in the Blue Ledge country is fine — better than down in the valley in the matter of sunshine. No snow has fallen to remain up there yet and things generally appear to be in excellent condition. Train "16" at 5:20 last evening was heavily laden with Christmas matter, both mail and express. There were three extra baggage cars for that purpose alone. The additional parcel post packages going north filled practically one card "solid," besides much additional matter. The Christmas mail from this point was fully twice as great as that of last year. Likewise the express company's matter was fully twice the bulk of last year. County Pathologist C. C. Cate held an official meeting at his offices this morning with Horticultural Commissioner A. C. Allen and all of the county fruit inspectors, outlining for the season and especially for the next month or so. Matters of the moment were discussed and a program arranged for a strenuous season of practical work, of which a fuller report will later be given.
