Golson was expected to declare where he was transferring to on Monday, with Florida State considered his likely landing spot. However, it appears that plan has been changed. ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported Monday that Golson “won’t make decision today, may visit more schools.” Golson, a graduate transfer with one remaining year of eligibility, visited FSU, Florida and Georgia this past week. FSU coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed Golson’s visit last Monday and it seemed like FSU was close to a lock to land Golson leading up to Monday. Fisher, however, said he wouldn’t guarantee Golson a starting job. Considering that Golson, a two-year starter at Notre Dame, transferred because he was concerned about playing time, it stands to reason that he wouldn’t want to end up at a program where he wasn’t penciled in to be a starter in 2015. FSU junior Sean Maguire left spring practice as the frontrunner to win the starting job, but Fisher has yet to name a starter for next season.
