She was born May 29, 1919 to Hans and Christine Borge in Mellette, S.D. She moved to Medford at age 13 and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1937. Luella married Frank Fawcett May 22, 1937 and continued living in Medford until her death. She was employed by Mann’s Department Store, Crane Plumbing, and Zellerbach Paper Company during her working years. Following the death of her husband, Luella worked as a Pink Lady Volunteer at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital for over 3 decades. She was an avid bowler and an instructor for Junior Bowlers. Luella was socially active and a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Amaranth, eventually becoming Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and a 72-year member of that organization. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of her own clothes throughout her life. She will be missed by family and friends, and leaves a legacy of wide smiles and love of family. Luella is survived by her sons Jim Fawcett (Wayna) of Medford. Ore. and John Fawcett (Jeanne) of Newberg, Ore.; four grandchildren, Cory of Grants Pass, Ron of Medford, and Jay and Jeff, both of Portland; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Walter Fawcett; brothers, Noel Borge and Harold Borge; and sisters, Gladys Gilman, Alma Stolle, and Carol Lewis. At Luella’s request, no funeral services are planned. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Eastern Star organization. She will be interred at Siskiyou Memorial Cemetery.
