Southern Oregon Verizon customers temporarily unable to dial 911 emergency concept: girl using a digital generated phone with emergency call on the screen. All screen graphics are made up. Tuesday Apr 24, 2018 at 10:17 AM Apr 24, 2018 at 10:17 AM Verizon customers across at least four counties in Southern Oregon cannot dial 911, area emergency dispatch officials reported. Officials at Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon, a 911 dispatch center for Jackson County, were alerted to the situation at 1:27 a.m. today. The reason for the outage is not yet known. “Hopefully we’ll learn that once (it’s) fixed,” said Sarah Leonard, ECSO 911 operations supervisor. For now, anyone with Verizon with an emergency should text 911 — if able — or contact the ECSO non-emergency dispatch line at 541-776-7206, Leonard said. Verizon customers in Jackson, Josephine, Curry, and Klamath counties are unable to make 911 calls. Other counties may be similarly affected, though the official number was not known.
