Goslin's hat trick lifts Eagles DEL NORTE, Calif. - After falling behind the Del Norte Warriors 1-0, Eagle Point rallied behind a hat trick from Alissa Goslin for a 4-2 non-conference girls soccer win Monday. Senior Valerie Cupp gave the Warriors an early lead by knocking in a penalty kick in the fourth minute, but Goslin scored three consecutive goals. "The team got her (Goslin) the ball and she did a nice job of finishing," said coach Tim Sweeney. "I'm really proud of the way the girls came together." The sophomore forward scored in the 12th and 36th minutes of the first half to give the Eagles a 2-1 edge at the half. Goslin scored her third goal in the 14th minute of the second half. After Cupp added another penalty kick goal to reduce the deficit to 3-2 in the second half, junior Krena Gutierrez scored in the 38th minute of the second half to seal the victory for the Eagles. Junior Ali Rotar assisted on Goslin's first two goals. The Eagles maintained a 19-6 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Summer Adams made key saves to secure the win. "She (Adams) had three big saves in the first half with the scored tied at one," said Sweeney. "She kept us going." Prep Boys DEL NORTE 8, EAGLE POINT 2 - At Del Norte, Calif., senior Eric Contreras and junior Mitch Sneed each had two goals to lead the Warriors in the non-conference game. Senior Casey Murdock notched both goals for the Eagles. The Warriors put the game away early holding a 4-1 lead at the half. College Women POINT LOMA NAZARENE 2, SOUTHERN OREGON 1 - At San Diego, sophomore forward Jackie Jewell scored in the 86th minute to send the Raiders to an 0-3 mark in non-conference play. Freshman forward Desirae Tarr tied the game for the Raiders at 1-1 one minute prior to Jewell's goal. The Crusaders held a 25-7 advantage in shots on goal.
